The new multipurpose events center would be part of a much larger entertainment district

Olympia Development Company, part of Mike Ilitch’s Ilitch Holdings, Inc., owner of the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers, outlined to state lawmakers plans for a $650 million mixed-use, public-private development in downtown Detroit. 

Olympia Development expects the development to produce 1,000 jobs and $210 million in economic impact annually.

The district would be anchored by a new events center which would serve as a new home for the Detroit Red Wings.
