Atlanta Falcons break ground on new stadium

The Atlanta Falcons have officially broke ground on a new stadium, a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment, multi-purpose venue. The $1.2 billion facility, designed by 360 Architecture, is scheduled to open in 2017.

The stadium will have a capacity of 71,000 and feature many unique elements, including a retractable roof, open-air concourse, a 60-foot high, 360-degree video board, and a floor-to-ceiling window with views of Downtown Atlanta.

The stadium will also reconfigure to soccer specifications and serve as the home field for Atlanta’s newly-awarded MLS franchise.
