Churchill Downs will spend another $37 million to continue its recent track record for renovation. The newest iteration of construction will build a three-story addition that will house new luxury suites, dining areas, and a third-floor grandstand.
The new Starting Gate Suites will be located adjacent to the Jockey Club Suites at the north end of the track. The additional suites will have access to new indoor lounge seating and a private tiered balcony.
Each of the three new levels of the addition will have event space with dining tables and room for 576 seats. The third-floor grandstand will seat 110 guests.
Construction will begin in January and pause for the 2017 Spring Meet in April. Afterwards, it will pick back up and finish in time for the 2018 Kentucky Derby.
