An emerging theme of 2017, and one certain to continue in 2018, is eSports venue design.
To address questions being asked by current and aspiring eSports team owners, Kansas City-based architectural firm Generator Studio has developed a strategic plan to assess the fit and fitness of existing venues to host eSports events, eSports-inspired facility renovations, and purpose-designed new builds.
Generator Studio’s thesis is that existing local venues simply don’t have the infrastructure and bandwidth to support eSports. A better solution for the eSports market is a $15M-$30M, 3,000-person multipurpose arena, focusing on technology and flexible use of space.
