Kate Hussmann is the Senior Director of Strategy and Innovation for Hornets Sports and Entertainment (HSE). She works at the intersection of sports and technology and is responsible for advising the Hornets’ executive team and ownership group on both the current pulse of the sports industry and the technology that will shape its future. She also manages a variety of unique, large scale projects for HSE ranging from All-Star 2019, a project she lead from the bid submission in 2015, to the Hornets’ first Global Games appearance in Shenzhen and Shanghai, China, to the Time Warner Cable/Spectrum Center rebrand, to the construction of the new Hornets’ Fan Shop. 

Kate graduated with honors from Boston University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. After college, she followed her passion to culinary school and completed an associate’s degree in the culinary arts in 2012. She worked as a chef and recipe developer for six years prior to entering the sports industry. In January of 2017, she graduated with honors from Wake Forest University with her MBA. Kate has served on the Executive Board of the American Heart Association and the Young Affiliates of the Mint, is an alumni of the CLT Young Leadership Board, and is a cofounder of EmpowHER, an internal mentorship program for the young women of HSE. In her free time, Kate loves to travel, read, cook, play outside, and spend time with people she loves.
