The new home of the Atlanta Falcons, scheduled to open in 2017, is finalizing designs for multiple edible gardens. Raised beds will be planted in the southwest corner of the facility with additional edible plants located throughout. Crops will include blueberries, two varieties of figs, and two varieties of apples.
The garden areas, to be irrigated by a storm water detention vault, will further assist builders in achieving the highest standards of LEED certification. They will also benefit the Westside communities, as the new stadium is aiming to provide produce to local food programs as well as work with local schools on healthy eating initiatives.
