The Rooftop at Coors Field a hit with fans

The Colorado Rockies have set an example on how to repurpose space to accommodate changing fan behaviors. In right field at Coors Field now sits The Rooftop – a two-level, standing-room-only bar area, covering 38,000 square feet. The renovation of the upper deck provides a new kind of fan experience that is attracting a variety of demographics, including the 21-30 age group.

Rooftop tickets are $14-$15 and include a $6 concession or merchandise credit. Rockies supporters can still connect with the game, as The Rooftop provides expansive views of the field. But now fans have a coveted social interaction space with DJs and cornhole to watch the game from.

The Rooftop was built for approximately $10 million.

Other MLB clubs, including the Cleveland Indians, are mimicking the social space as part of upcoming renovations. And the new cabanas at Everbank Field in the NFL also fit the description.
