Spotlight: Premium Seating and Design Awards Presentation

ALSD’s 3rd Annual Spotlight Design Contest is back in 2019, but with a twist! This year, we have added premium seating sales- and service-focused categories, inspiring all attendees from premium seating to design to tech and innovation to submit their “best” in our Top 10 categories below. Each category will net one winner, all twelve winners announced on July 2 at the ALSD Conference and Design & Build Forum in Chicago.

  1. Premium Sales, Marketing, or Social Media Campaign
    • Selling takes on a life of its own, and when it comes to selling luxury, the stakes – and value of the asset – only increase. What campaign, tool, or social post has proven most successful in your sales efforts, led to the most new or renewal business, or was most unique in the industry. Tell your story, and show us visually.
  2.  Premium Gift
    • A mainstay in client entertainment is the premium gift. Whether you gift your clients high-end items once a year or provide a tchotchke on each game day, we want to know what gift your clients have loved most or which were considered the most thoughtful or original.
  3. Suite Holder Trip or Premium Experience
    • Long-lived and loved is the suite holder trip. Are you taking clients anywhere different, unique, or off the beaten path or are you finding success in simply mixing up the tried-and-true clients-on-the-team-plane voyage? Perhaps you’re skipping sports all together in lieu of a local chef cookoff or beach vacation. Show and tell your best premium client experience.
  4. Digital or Technological Enhancement for Premium Areas
    • Venues are meant to engage, entertain, and enlighten fans, i.e. get them off the couch and to the games. Technology and other digital enhancement are assisting in this uphill initiative. What innovations are enhancing the premium fan experience or providing turnkey services to make the experience more convenient?
  5. New or Renovated Suite Design
    • Private suite spaces within venues that exemplify a luxury experience.  Standout qualities include design aesthetic, use of space, amenities, and creative features.  What sets your suites and their design apart?
  6. Alternative Premium Seating Product or Space
    • Premium comes in all sizes, and new premium products are hitting the market constantly. Did you design a new ledge box concept, have success creating a social viewing club, or introduce a never-before-seen uber-premium space, one that can be used not only on game days, but year-round? Show us.
  7. Club Space
    • Premium clubs within a venue meant for larger groups with an appetite for a posh entertainment experience.  These spaces often include bars, restaurants, communal seating, meeting space, and frequently a special view of the play or performance area in a venue. What’s unique about yours?
  8. Sponsorship Activation
    • Activating sponsors has to be creative and engaging, but also has to weave into the aesthetic of a venue.  This category looks at activations that do all that and more, providing ROI for the sponsor and the team or venue.
  9. Premium Food & Beverage Offering or Culinary Presentation
    • This category highlights only the best (read that: premium) food and beverage offerings at a venue. This may include local fare or upscale dining, visual presentation, unique pricing, or other creative factors that impact the culinary experience.
  10. Overall Building Architecture
    • Every building tells a story.  What’s yours?  This category looks at architectural considerations like the intersection of form and function, materials used, and tasteful branding integration.
  11. Videoboards / Ribbonboards
    • Think big.  Large scale displays are being implemented now more than ever to display game-time information and mixed media content, as well as taking on new shapes and placements in today's venues.  Show us your most impressive displays, and tell us why they're a cut above.
  12. General Audiovisual Fan Experience
    • A/V isn't exclusive to scoreboards or premium areas, it's constantly being integrated into every corner of a venue.  Show us how you're using audiovisual assets to enhance the fan journey for everyone from VIPs to GA ticketholders.
