Mercedes-Benz Stadium is more than the new home of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United. It’s an economic driver for one of the poorest neighborhoods in the American South.
Arthur Blank invested $15 million in Westside Works, a job training program just down the road from Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The investment has paid off, with many graduates of Westside Works working on the construction crews that built the stadium. And now that the building is open, many more graduates service the building.
Arthur Blank’s foundation has since doubled the original investment, and continues to support the gentrification of the neighborhoods on the west side of downtown Atlanta.
ALSD 2018 will visit Mercedes-Benz Stadium and bear witness to the changing landscape outside its venue walls.
