When Should Teams Contact Fans During a Crisis?

Wakefield Research Partners surveyed 200 NHL fans from around the country to identify how they would respond to team communications during the league’s COVID-19 shutdown.

Immediately following the suspension of league operations, we asked 200 NHL fans from around the country to identify their favorite teams. Each fan then received one of three versions of the survey which asked how they would respond if they received a personalized email request from their favorite team in:

  • The next two weeks
  • The next two weeks (plus, we included it would take 7-9 minutes to complete the survey)
  • The first two weeks in April (without the time to complete)
