Calgary Stampede

In order to elevate the experience for our premium guests, the Calgary Stampede created its own Cowboy Concierge team of young staff members to greet clients in parking lots and at venue entrances and offer a smile, a map, an umbrella or a bottle of water, depending on the circumstance.

Since its inception in 2010 the “Cowboys” have developed well beyond this basic role to exceed expectations whenever possible.

When anyone on the Premium Seating team sees an opportunity to WOW a guest – an anniversary, guest from out of town, new baby – the Cowboys come into play to assist in a moment’s notice to create a memory. They might run to the store to get a child’s cowboy hat, suggest a last minute appearance by the Stampede Queen & Princesses on their routine walk-about, find the deep-fried scorpion on the midway, take a child on a ride or offer an escort to a hard-to-describe location on Park.

Cowboys hand-carry client gifting, décor, banners and supplies across the Park during operating hours when vehicles are not allowed and deliveries are not possible (multiple times a day). One team member even conducted a cross-Park search for the ingredients to make a milkshake, after an Infield Suite client requested one and it was not on the menu.

In our ongoing struggles with a faulty elevator, one Cowboy was happy to ride up and down the elevator ready to do the "paramedic push" (holding in the floor number for the whole ride) and made the journey pleasant for everyone by finding and playing just the right mix of elevator music on his iPhone.

The team is managed by alumni from previous years, offering a great opportunity to rise through the ranks.
