Canvas Stadium

After decades off campus, Populous has brought football back to the Colorado State University campus with its 41,000 capacity multi-purpose stadium. The design of the stadium is authentic to the state and region, with a sweeping plaza on the north side providing space for elevating existing traditions and enjoying the views. The Populous design ensures functionality for both game day and non-game day usage.  An 80,000 SF Alumni and Academic Center is integrated into the design to bring students and faculty into the building year-round. The stadium also serves as the all-inclusive home of football operations with training space and coaches offices. For non-game day events, the stadium clubs provide flexible usage and banquet spaces offer alumni space to tailgate. On game days, the stadium provides fans with a variety of premium seating amenities including a sideline field club, a stadium club, an indoor club, a Hall of Champions, loge boxes, suites and an open north end zone featuring the New Belgium Porch.

The new $220 million on-campus stadium is designed as an open-air entertainment, academic and training destination. The design embraces the natural beauty, topography and visual connection to the Rocky Mountains. The material palette from the campus is pulled from the earth, reflective of the natural Fort Collins surroundings. In addition, the majority of the materials used came from locations within 500 miles of the stadium. The interior finishes reflect the Colorado landscape- Neutral color tones, wood feature walls and natural stone were utilized throughout the club spaces and suites.

The stadium’s mid-century modern architecture and convenient location next to student housing make it a physically and aesthetically connected beacon of activity for the University. The new multi-purpose stadium at Colorado State University is more than a new stadium for football fans. It's a building that captures the passion and trajectory of campus, becoming a place for students, fans and the community to learn, socialize and celebrate.
