Jim Mercurio is a Stadium & Event Operations and Safety & Security Executive with over 30 years of experience in professional sports.

Mercurio served nearly 29 years with the San Francisco 49ers; the last three as executive vice president & general manager, Levi’s Stadium. Previously, he served six years as vice president, stadium operations & general manager. In his role there, Mercurio oversaw all aspects of stadium & event operations including executive oversight of the food and beverage operations, engineering, grounds, guest services, janitorial services, operations & logistics, parking and transportation. He addition, he managed all police, safety & security services, including 24/7 stadium security operations, and game & event day medical services at Levi’s Stadium.

During his tenure, Levi’s Stadium has garnered international recognition, most notably the prestigious Sports Business Journal 2015 Sports Facility of the Year award, as well as a number of green and sustainability honors.

Mercurio is an NFL leader in security and stadium management and has served as the Chair of the NFL’s Stadium Security Committee for the past four years.

Mercurio currently serves on the NCS4 Board of Directors and as a Founding Distinguished Fellow for the Innovation Institute for Fan Experience (IIFX), which provides direction and guidance for industry leaders, guest services, operations & safety & security professionals across the country and the world.

In July 2016, Mercurio was honored and recognized with the prestigious National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) Professional of the Year Award, which recognizes a professional in the field who has enhanced venue safety and security operations.

In 2021, he was the recipient of the NCS4 Distinguished Leadership Award, recognizing his constant contributions to the industry throughout his career.

In July 2023, he will be receiving the Innovation Institute for Fan Experience (IIFX) Hall of Fame Award honors for his "singular dedication, outstanding service above and beyond the work of others, and stellar leadership that have inspired others and significantly contributed to the advancement of the sports and entertainment industry."
